Der Berenberg EM Bonds ESG investiert in Staats- und Unternehmensanleihen aus Emerging Markets auf Grundlage eines systematischen und aktiven Investmentprozesses. Der Fonds strebt eine angemessene und stetige Wertsteigerung unter Berücksichtigung von ESG-Investitionskriterien an. Neben der Anwendung strenger Vorgaben beim Ausschluss nicht-ESG konformer Anlagen werden zusätzlich weitreichende Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte analysiert und bei der Einzeltitelselektion von Staaten und Unternehmen im Rahmen der finalen Portfoliokonstruktion berücksichtigt. Das Portfolio unterliegt außerdem einem fortlaufenden Risikomanagement auf Länder und auf Unternehmensebene.

Schwache US-Arbeitsmarktdaten sowie weiter rückläufige Inflationszahlen in den USA führte zu einem weiteren Renditerückgang auf der US-Zinskurve. Die Rendite 10-jähriger US-Staatsanleihen verzeichnete im August einen Rückgang um 12 Basispunkte (Bps) von 4,02 % auf 3,90 %. Der Carry-Trades-Abverkauf durch JPY-Anstieg hat sich im Laufe des Monats schnell beruhigt, auch in Bezug auf Anleihen in Schwellenländern. Die Risikoaufschlägen in Hartwährung auf Staatsanleihen sowie Unternehmensanleihen aus Schwellenländern haben sich um 12 Bps bzw. 10 Bps verengen können. Der Fonds Berenberg EM Bond ESG Fund hat aufgrund der richtigen Durationspositionierung und Wertpapierauswahl positive Performance erzielt.

Das Identifizieren langfristig erfolgreicher Unternehmen und Geschäftsmodelle ist die Basis guter Anlageentscheidungen. Faktoren aus den Bereichen Umwelt, Soziales und Unternehmensführung (Environmental, Social und Governance – ESG) sind dabei wesentliche Entscheidungskriterien und deshalb integraler Bestandteil des Anlageprozesses.
CO₂-Intensität
Der Fonds betreibt kein aktives Management des CO2-Fußabdrucks, Emissionsdaten wie die CO2-Intensität stellen aber eine relevante Kenngröße dar, die in die Beurteilung effizienten Wirtschaftens eines Unternehmens sowie der Ausprägung von Transitionsrisiken einfließen können.
ESG Score
Die Rating-Agentur MSCI ESG bewertet mit einem ESG Score von 0 bis 10 das Management materieller ESG-Risiken von Portfoliopositionen im Vergleich zu Wettbewerbern.
ESG Kontroversen
Investments im Fonds werden auf ESG Kontroversen überwacht und mit Flaggen versehen. So identifizieren wir potenzielle ESG-Risiken eines Investments mithilfe von MSCI ESG Daten. Bei oranger Flagge (schwerwiegende Kontroverse) treten wir mit dem Unternehmen in einen aktiven Austausch, bei roter Flagge (besonders schwerwiegende Kontroverse) kommt es zu einem Ausschluss des Unternehmens.
