Monatlicher Marktkommentar
Der August startete mit Turbulenzen an den globalen Aktienmärkten, was durch das saisonal bedingte unterdurchschnittliche Handelsvolumen in den Sommermonaten an den Aktienmärkten verstärkt wurde. Der Berenberg Aktien Deutschland lag im August hinter seiner Benchmark. Aixtron hatte bereits Anfang Juli seine Jahresprognose aufgrund eines höheren Anteils an margenschwachen roten LED-Werkzeugen gesenkt. Aktien von Adesso enttäuschten die Anleger, nachdem das Unternehmen seinen Ausblick für das Gesamtjahr gesenkt hatte. Die Aktie von Puma enttäuschte im August, nachdem das Unternehmen seine Jahresprognose aufgrund eines leichten Gewinnrückgangs im ersten Halbjahr senken musste. Im Gegenzug entwickelte sich die Allianz-Aktie positiv, nachdem die sehr guten Ergebnisse des zweiten Quartals die Konsenserwartungen übertroffen hatten. Die Deutsche Telekom meldete sehr gute Ergebnisse, die im August zu einem starken Kursanstieg führten. Merck übertraf die Erwartungen für das zweite Quartal und hob die Prognose für das Gesamtjahr an, da die Zahlen für die Bereiche Gesundheit und Elektronik besser ausfielen als erwartet. Andreas Strobl
Andreas Strobl ist seit November 2016 Portfoliomanager bei Berenberg. Er begann seine berufliche Karriere 2002 als Sell-Side-Analyst bei der BayernLB in München. 2006 wechselte er als Senior-Investmentmanager zur Allianz SE (Aequitas GmbH). Seit 2015 war Andreas Strobl als Senior-Portfoliomanager bei Allianz Global Investors in Frankfurt tätig und zeichnete dabei für die Betreuung und Weiterentwicklung verschiedener europäischer Small/Mid-Cap-Aktienportfolios verantwortlich. Er studierte Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der LMU in München. Im Jahr 2005 absolvierte er als Jahrgangsbester die Fortbildung zum CIIA (Certified International Investment Analyst) und CEFA (Certified European Financial Analyst).

Sebastian Leigh ist seit Oktober 2017 Portfoliomanager bei Berenberg. Zuvor war er drei Jahre als Associate in der Assurance Abteilung von EY tätig, mit einem primären Fokus auf Unternehmen aus den Sektoren Automotive und Healthcare. Er studierte Accounting and Finance an der University of Kent.

CO₂-Intensität
Die CO₂-Intensität (Scope 1 & 2 Emissionen) je Unternehmen wird mit dem Portfoliogewicht des Unternehmens (aktueller Wert des Investments durch aktueller Portfoliowert) multipliziert und aufsummiert. Diese gewichtete durchschnittliche CO₂-Intensität gibt ein Maß der Exposition des Portfolios zu CO₂-emissionsintensiven Unternehmen. Die Kennzahl wird in Tonnen CO₂ pro 1 Millionen US-Dollar Umsatz angegeben.
Der Fonds betreibt kein aktives Management des CO2-Fußabdrucks, Emissionsdaten wie die CO2-Intensität stellen aber eine relevante Kenngröße dar, die in die Beurteilung effizienten Wirtschaftens eines Unternehmens sowie der Ausprägung von Transitionsrisiken einfließen können.
ESG Score
Anhand einer Punktzahl zwischen 0 (schlechtester Score) bis 10 (bester Score) bewertet MSCI ESG die Fähigkeit von Portfoliopositionen im Vergleich zu Wettbewerbern, ökologische, soziale und Governance-bezogene Risiken zu erkennen und zu steuern. Die ESG Scores werden auf Holdingebene vergeben und auf Portfolioebene als gewichteter durchschnittlicher ESG Score aggregiert.
Die Rating-Agentur MSCI ESG bewertet mit einem ESG Score von 0 bis 10 das Management materieller ESG-Risiken von Portfoliopositionen im Vergleich zu Wettbewerbern.
ESG Kontroversen
MSCI ESG analysiert kontroverse Geschäftspraktiken aus den fünf Bereichen Umwelt, Menschenrechte, Arbeitsrechte & Zuliefermanagement, Kunden und Governance. Die Kontroversen werden entlang ihres Reputationsrisikos sowie des betrieblichen Umgangs durch ein Flaggensystem bewertet. Grün bedeutet keine oder schwache Kontroversen, Gelb signalisiert moderate Kontroversen, Orange weist auf schwerwiegende und Rot auf besonders schwerwiegende Kontroversen hin.
Investments im Fonds werden auf ESG Kontroversen überwacht und mit Flaggen versehen. So identifizieren wir potenzielle ESG-Risiken eines Investments mithilfe von MSCI ESG Daten. Bei oranger Flagge (schwerwiegende Kontroverse) treten wir mit dem Unternehmen in einen aktiven Austausch, bei roter Flagge (besonders schwerwiegende Kontroverse) kommt es zu einem Ausschluss des Unternehmens.
