Prof. Dr. Bernd Meyer
Prof. Dr. Bernd Meyer has been Chief Investment Strategist at Berenberg Wealth and Asset Management since October 2017, where he is responsible for discretionary multi-asset strategies and wealth management mandates. Prof. Dr. Meyer was initially Head of European Equity Strategy at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London and, from 2010, Head of Global Cross Asset Strategy Research at Commerzbank. In this role Prof. Dr. Meyer has received several awards. In the renowned Extel Survey from 2013 to 2017, he and his team ranked among the top three multi-asset research teams worldwide. Prof. Dr. Meyer is DVFA Investment Analyst, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and guest lecturer for "Empirical Research in Finance" at the University of Trier. He has published numerous articles and two books and received three scientific awards.
Ulrich Urbahn
Ulrich Urbahn has been working for Berenberg since October 2017 and is responsible for quantitative analyses and the devel-opment of strategic and tactical allocation ideas, and is involved in capital market communications. He is a member of the Asset Allocation Committee and portfolio manager of the Berenberg Variato. After graduating in economics and mathematics from the University of Heidelberg, he worked for more than 10 years at Commerzbank, among others, as a senior cross asset strate-gist. Mr Urbahn is a CFA charterholder and was part of the three best multi-asset research teams worldwide in the renowned Extel survey for many years.
Ludwig Kemper
Ludwig Kemper has been working as a strategist since 2019 and as a portfolio manager since 2021 at Berenberg’s Multi Asset unit. His responsibilities include the generation of investment ideas and the preparation of analyses to support investment decisions. Ludwig focuses on the commodities sector and derivatives markets. Previously, he completed a dual study programme at Berenberg in cooperation with the Hamburg School of Business Administration. In his rotations, he worked in investment banking, equity research and asset management. He received his Bachelor's degree as valedictorian of his class. Ludwig is a CFA charterholder.
Philina Kuhzarani
Philina Kuhzarani has been working as an analyst in the Berenberg Multi Asset Strategy & Research team since January 2022. Her responsibilities include the generation of multi-asset investment ideas and the preparation of capital market publications and analyses to support investment decisions. Her focus is particularly on the commodities sector. After completing her BSc in Economics at Maastricht University, she gained market experience in the treasury and M&A department of a Dax-40 company before completing her Master of Science in Investment and Wealth Management at Imperial College London with merit. Philina Kuhzarani joined Berenberg Bank in October 2020 as part of the Investment Banking Graduate Programme in London. As part of the programme, she completed assigments in ECM, Economics and Equity Research, Equity Sales and Equities and Multi-Asset Asset Management and completed the CISI Level 3 certifications in Securities and Financial Regulation.
Portfolio Management
Dejan Djukic
Dejan Djukic heads up portfolio management at Berenberg. He is responsible for the discretionary mandates and the asset management solutions with multi-asset focus. He is a member of the Asset Allocation Committee and portfolio manager of various multi-asset strategies. After completing his Master’s degree in finance, he began his career at Commerzbank AG. Djukic was there responsible for asset allocation for asset management and fund mandates. He was also a voting member of the global investment committee and managed the bank's largest mutual funds and individual mandates. He then took over responsibility for portfolio management at DZ Privatbank S.A.. The team was responsible for the bank's large and special mandates.
Oliver Brunner
Oliver Brunner, CIIA, heads the portfolio management department (core strategies) at Berenberg. He has been working in private asset management since 2007. In addition to overall responsibility for the core strategies and 1590 fund family, the graduate industrial engineer manages large special mandates for foundations, church institutions and private clients with special requirements. He completed his studies at the end of the 1990s at the Technical University of Karlsruhe; in 2006 he passed the part-time examination to become a Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA). From 2000 to 2007, he was portfolio manager and equity analyst at Baden-Württembergische Bank AG in Stuttgart.

Philipp Loehrhoff
Philipp Löhrhoff joined Berenberg in 2021 and is a portfolio manager in the Multi Asset team. In his previous roles he worked closely with institutional investors to structure, develop and place bespoke hedging and investment solutions. He is an expert for quantitative investment strategies as well as cross asset solutions with a particular focus on equity and fixed income. He spent several years at Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas and Natixis in London. Philipp holds a Master‘s degree in Finance and Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Tobias Schäfer
Tobias Schäfer has been with Berenberg since July 2018. As a portfolio manager in private asset management, he is responsible for the fund-heavy asset management core strategies. A further focus is on qualitative fund selection in the equities/bonds and alternative sectors as well as on ETF selection. Mr. Schäfer completed his apprenticeship as a bank clerk at Sparkasse Darmstadt in 2012, where he subsequently worked as an asset management consultant and completed his studies in Banking & Finance at FOM in 2015. During his Master of Finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance, he worked as a working student in institutional multi-asset portfolio management at Union Investment. There he was hired in 2017 after the successful completion of his studies and was responsible for institutional investors as junior portfolio manager in the advisory department.
Christian Saalfrank
Christian Saalfrank has been with Berenberg since May 2023. As co-fund manager of the Berenberg Sustainable Foundation mutual fund, he is responsible for sustainable and high-dividend strategies in the Multi Asset Income & ESG division in Frankfurt. He has many years of experience and particular expertise in the management of large special funds for savings banks, companies and municipalities. After completing a banking apprenticeship at Stadtsparkasse Nürnberg, he studied business administration at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in the mid-1990s. After graduating, he began his career as a junior fund manager at SEB Invest. In 2001, he passed the part-time Certified European Investment Analyst (CEFA) exam. From 2001 to 2021, he worked as a Senior Fund Manager Multi Asset/Equities for institutional clients at Helaba Invest. Most recently, he worked as Head of Equities at LeanVal Asset Management AG.
Martin Mayer
Martin Mayer, CEFA, has been working as a portfolio manager since 1998. Since November 2009, as Senior Portfolio Manager at Berenberg, he has been responsible for the pension strategy of private asset management and for individual special mandates. After completing his training in business administration (Wirtschaftsakademie) and his degree in economics (University of Hamburg), he joined Deutsche Bank's asset management department in 1998. Until 2008, he managed individual client portfolios for Private Wealth Management and completed further training as a CEFA investment analyst/DVFA in 2001/2002. Mayer joined HSH Nordbank in the summer of 2008 as Deputy Head of Portfolio Management.
Oliver Thamm
Oliver Thamm, CEFA, has been managing large and special mandates in private asset management at Berenberg since 2006. He studied at the University of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg. Thamm has been a Certified Effas Financial Analyst (CEFA) since 2001. The graduate economist has over 26 years of experience in portfolio management for special private mandates, primarily in wealth management at Dresdner Bank AG. Oliver Thamm has completed in-service training as a DVFA/CEFA analyst.
Moritz Immel
Moritz Immel has been with the company since January 2024. As a portfolio manager in the Multi Asset Team, he is jointly responsible for sustainable and high-dividend strategies. After completing a bachelor's and master's degree in industrial engineering at TU Darmstadt, Moritz Immel worked for 3.5 years at Lupus alpha Asset Management AG in Frankfurt. As a product manager, he looked after the small & mid cap, convertible bond, CLO and derivative-based strategies and was responsible for the (further) development of the respective ESG strategies. Moritz Immel is a CFA charterholder and certified ESG analyst (CESGA).
Manuel Hochsam
Manuel Hochsam joined Berenberg in 2020 and works as a portfolio manager in the Multi Asset Solutions team. He focuses on the management and development of quantitative investment solutions for institutional clients. Manuel holds a MSc in Finance from the University of Mannheim and has previously gained portfolio management experience with multiple investment management corporations as an intern. Manuel is CFA Charterholder.
Keanu Thierolf
Keanu Thierolf joined Berenberg in August 2024 as a Portfolio Manager in Multi Asset – Fund Strategies & Manager Selection. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration & Economics from Goethe University and a Master's degree in Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Prior to joining the firm as a Portfolio Manager, Keanu already worked at Berenberg. There and at another asset manager, he gained valuable practical experience in portfolio management and quantitative analysis as an intern and working student.
Maximilian Gauglitz
Maximilian Gauglitz joined the Multi Asset Solutions team at Berenberg in 2022. He studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Dresden and has gained experience with several investment managers focusing on quantitative and fundamental investing strategies.
Product Specialists
Michael Heidinger
Michael Heidinger joined Berenberg in January 2024 and is responsible for the Multi Asset Product Specialists team. Michael has worked in Products and Business Development at abrdn since 2017. He played a key role in the business development of MyFolios in German-speaking countries and headed the wholesale team for Germany and Austria. In 2022, he also took over responsibility for the entire Business Development division as Co-Country Head. Prior to this, he worked for 16 years at the Allianz Group, including as a product specialist for the wealth management family in multi-asset portfolio management. Michael holds a Bachelor's degree and completed his Master of Finance with honours at Frankfurt School.
Isabell Silverio
Isabell Silverio has been working in the Berenberg Multi Asset Product Specialist team since January 2022. In this role, she is the first point of contact for product and client specific questions on all Multi Asset and Fixed Income strategies. After her BSc in Business Administration, she gained investment banking experience in M&A and Private Equity before completing her Master of Science in Finance at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management with merit. Isabell Silverio joined Berenberg Bank in October 2020 as part of the Wealth & Asset Management Graduate Program in London.
Yannick Lahmann
Yannick Lahmann joined Berenberg in December 2017 as a product specialist. In this role, he is the first contact person for product and client-specific matters for all Fixed income investment solutions & mutual funds. After his apprenticeship at Hamburger Sparkasse, he worked in several positions in the advisory business and most recently as an investment advisor. Following his banking apprenticeship, he studied at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and graduated with a degree in banking management (FS) in 2016.
